It is a two-volume book, consisting of a Japanese-style master garden section and a section on Japanese garden creation and landscaping materials. "Famous Gardens" volume is written by Mirei Shigemori and introduces about 200 famous gardens created from around the Asuka period to the modern era. Seventeen of the gardens are accompanied by drawings of the gardens as measured by Mirei Shigemori. At the end of the book is a list of photographs of the gardens (translated into English). "Landscaping Materials" volume introduces the works of contemporary Japanese gardeners and the expression techniques of Japanese-style landscaping. The first half features approximately 50 gardens and their sketches by contemporary gardeners, including 10 works by Mirei Shigemori. In the second half, many examples of Japanese-style landscaping are introduced by category, including rockeries, stonework, bridges, paving stones/stepping stones, fences, plantings, moss, white sand, gates, stone walls, and more. At the end of the book is a list of photographs of the gardens (translated into English). This sequel was supervised by SHIGEMORI Kanto (son of Mirei). It is a two-volume book, consisting of a Japanese-style master garden section and a section on landscaping by modern gardeners. "Famous Gardens" volume introduces about 200 famous gardens created from around the Asuka period to the modern era. Eighteen of the gardens are accompanied by drawings of the gardens as measured. At the end of the book is a list of photographs of the gardens (translated into English). "Landscaping " volume introduces the works of contemporary Japanese gardeners.
