Description

Chantry Fine Art has been in business for over twenty years selling at major antiques fairs including the NEC. We specialise in fine arts, miniatures, water colours and oils. Billing Antiques is a subsidiary of Chantry Fine Art HUGH MCKENZIE (1909-2005) MOSTLY VIEWS OF SOUTH EAST ENGLAND BUT SOME OF DEVON. SECOND HALF 20THC This selection continues the run of McKenzie's work already on this site much of which has been sold. McKenzie trained at the Slade under Tonks, but remained only semi-professional all his life. Nearly all his spare time was devoted to painting and recording life in the City of London and in the south east where he lived. His work is recorded in many collections including the London Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum. He was working almost up to the time of his death at the great age of 96. These examples come from one his sketch books which we purchased at his studio sale in 2011. Although none are signed most have locations recorded on them in his own hand. All are guaranteed to be by him. They are in excellent condition and are mounted on acid free white paper on acid free board. This fine ink drawing on coloured paper is of the Customs House, Exeter. It is annotated by the artist at top. Size 5 1/2" x 8"(14cm x 20cm) (Stock 5113) Powered by eBay Turbo Lister Track Page Views With Auctiva's FREE Counter
