Matisse is the son of Jean Matisse a sculptor, his mother Louise Milhau, a painter, sculptor and ceramist, and he is also the grandson of the famous Henri Matisse, who is possibly the most important French artist of this Century. He grew up spending time between Paris and the French Riviera, and often traveled between France and Spain where he met Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Aristi De Maillol, Jean Effel, Salvador Dali, Pierre Bonnard, Marcel Dechamp, Fernand Leger, Maurice De Vlaminck and his own grandfather Henri Matisse. He led a very unique childhood to say the least. He studied painting with both of his parents and he studied at L'Academie de la Grande Chaumiere and Les Courd d'Art du Soir de la Ville De Paris. He uses the palette knife extensively in his Original Oils, and he also has followed his grandfather's love for "Paper Cut" art that his grandfather pioneered. Early in 1998 he created a series of paintings from his memory of Paris as a child that are being sold today in limited edition serigraphs reflecting a whimsical view of Paris. Although he will never be as famous as his grandfather Henri, Pierre's art is sought after today and can be found in many private and corporate collections (General Mills). As well as the Deland Museum of Art located in FL where he resides today with wife Jeanne. Every home or office should have a "Matisse" work of art hanging on their wall! ---------------------- Thanks for looking at our Rare and affordable Collectibles!
